3-Ingredient Healthier Crock-Pot Hot Chocolate (Slow Cooker)

This Healthier 3-Ingredient Crock-Pot Hot Chocolate is the BEST and EASIEST recipe for hot cocoa I've ever come across. It's one of those 'set-it-and-forget-it' recipes, so you can have fun in the snow with your family and come inside to warm up with a nice hot mug of chocolatey goodness, without worrying about all that sugar and nasty chemicals found in conventional hot cocoa. It's the perfect healthy hot chocolate that's easy to make!

Well winter is DEFINITELY here, at least where we live! I love looking out the window to fresh, white snow on the ground at this time of the year, and as soon as our kids see fresh snow outside they're begging to go outside and play in it! We're so blessed to live in one of the most gorgeous places in the world so enjoying the outdoors is something we do often, regardless of the weather.

As soon as it gets cold outside my kids start asking for hot chocolate when they come in from playing, and there's really nothing better than a warm mug to warm you up after being outside in the cold. But because my kids are still little (age 2 and 4) I'm really careful about both their sugar intake and the health-factor of the things I give them to eat and drink. Don't get me wrong, we enjoy treats every now and then but sometimes as a mom it's just good to have those go-to recipes that you know your kids love to enjoy as a treat, but you also know are pretty good choices as far as their health goes. For our family this is definitely one of those recipes!

This Crock-Pot Hot Chocolate recipe calls for only 3 ingredients: milk, honey, and unsweetened cocoa powder, so it's a great recipe to make on the spur of the moment - you'll likely have all the ingredients on hand! And you don't have to worry about dissolving sugar, melting chocolate, or anything like that - just whisk the ingredients together cold in the Crock-Pot, let them simmer for a few hours, and then serve! It's as simple as that! We've had a few snowstorms here over the last few days and so this 3-Ingredient Crock-Pot Hot Chocolate was definitely in order. I threw it together after lunch the other day and after we came in from playing outside a few hours later it was all ready for us to enjoy!

This 3-Ingredient Healthier Crock-Pot Hot Chocolate is also great for serving at parties or family get-togethers during the holidays. When we enjoy it at home we drink it all on its own, but a garnish of some whipped cream and sprinkles or even chocolate sauce is a nice touch for a holiday party or other special occasion!

  • 1/2 cup to 2/3 cup liquid honey
  •  2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Add the milk to the Crock-Pot and whisk in the honey (I usually use 1/2 cup honey, but if you like your hot chocolate extra sweet, use 2/3 cup honey) and the cocoa powder until everything is combined.
  2.  Let the hot chocolate simmer on high for 1-2 hours or on low for 2-3 hours.
  3.  Serve in your favourite mugs all on its own, or garnish with freshly whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate shavings, or anything else your heart desires!
